Biography

Born in Montréal, Maxime Auguste first encountered Marc Favreau’s monologue Faut faire l’enfant in elementary school. From that moment on, he became more interested in playing with words than in spelling them correctly. Initially drawn to theatre, he threw himself headfirst into songwriting armed only with a patched-up guitar and an excess of confidence. Though a regular on school benches, he learned the craft of singing as a self-taught artist, taking lessons from Brassens, Brel, Desjardins, and Cayouche.

After recording a few closet demos, he released his first EP, Prendre la fuite, in 2015, followed by the album La métaphysique de l’ordinaire in 2018. Maxime Auguste then took things a step further by setting Marc Favreau’s monologues to music — a project released as the album Esstradinaire Esstradivarius in fall 2024.
